Kevin Harrison, AScT

  • Classification: Applied Science Technologist
  • Discipline: Electronics Engineering
  • Current Employer: Harrison Home Inspections Ltd

Career Experience

I have had an ever changing career starting with AGFA Canada in the medical and photo divisions, then a right turn into residential renovation which lead to becoming a Certified House Inspector. I have successfully operated Harrison Home Inspections Ltd and just passed my 10th anniversary. Current designations are AScT (electronics), CHI, and RRFA(L).

Why I Became A Technology Professional

  • I was always into some form of the latest technology growing up and gravitated toward electrical through high school so it made sense to me to follow in this path. I chose Ryerson in Toronto as my post secondary education and graduated in their Electrical Technologist program majoring in electronics. I liked the idea of a technologist as they did more building and hands on work, and I was always a hands on kind of guy.

Career Highlights

  • Graduated from Ryerson Polytechnical in 1986
  • Promoted to Senior Product Support Technologist with AGFA Canada to liason with head office in Germany on CSA requirements.
  • Buying a house, accompanying a house inspector, and realizing at that moment that this was the career for me.
  • Graduating from BCIT and their House inspection courses

Professional & Community Activities

  • At the moment I sit on the Property Inspector Certification Board and am also one of ASTTBC-PI's field trainers and assessors for new inspectors to be certified. While living in Deep Cove in North Vancouver I try to take in and donate to local events whenever possible. There is no shortage of things to do in this community.
