Career Experience

My career started in 2003 as a self-employed Code consultant. After 2 years I was hired by an Engineering firm called Hine Reichard Tomlin Inc in Markham, ON where I designed sprinkler/fire alarm systems, conducted field reviews & reviewed building plans for Building Code compliance. In 2009 I moved to Vancouver to start a position at GHL Consultants Ltd., where I develop Building Code alternative solutions, write code reports, provide plan review services & conduct due diligence reviews.

Why I Became A Technology Professional

  • My post secondary education homed my ability to identify and solves problems, ultimately leading me into the building/fire code consulting industry. I think the career chose me, however I have chosen to register as an AScT to signify my competence.

Career Highlights

  • I apply science & engineering principles to protect people and their environments from fire & smoke.
  • In 2013 I hit the 10 year mark working in a specialized industry for which I have a diploma in.
  • I am a Certified Fire Protection Specialist which is an internationally recognized designation.
  • I can proudly say I am a registered Applied Science Technologist with ASTTBC.

Professional & Community Activities

  • I am an Associate member of FPOABC and participate in forum discussions, meetings or register for courses or events when possible. I attend SFPE BC Chapter meetings which are informative, allow sharing of ideas & discussions. As an AScT and CFPS I actively seek opportunities for CPD.
