Career Experience

I began my career with Morrison Hershfield in 1997 after a brief time with a restoration company and an architectural firm which added to my technical skills and development. My first job at MH was a CAD drafter and soon became a field technologist specializing in roofing and building envelope rehabilitation. I gradually developed skills and expertise and was fortunate enough to be given more and more responsibility as department manager in the Vancouver office, then Director of Operations for Western Canada and after 14 years I am now Vice President for Building Science for the Canadian arm of MH. In that capacity I have the operational responsibilities for almost 100 staff with revenues of over $13 Million per year.

Why I Became A Technology Professional

  • I wasn’t always technically minded. I began my working career with IBM and was progressing but never felt pleased or satisfied with the type of work I was doing. It wasn’t until I started a small home renovation that my interest in construction and engineering was sparked. A successfully completed renovation and a few night classes focused on construction and design was the catalyst for a career switch. In my mid-30’s I quit my job, moved to Vancouver and enrolled in the Building Technology program at BCIT. Since graduating in 1995, I have never looked back or regretted my decision.
